ECG (Electrocardiogram)
A test that records the heart's electrical activity through electrodes on the skin.
ECG (or EKG) is a standard, non-invasive test for arrhythmias, heart attack, and electrical conduction problems. 12-lead ECG is the standard format.
What this means for you: a recent ECG (within 30 days) is required before any major surgery. Bring the printout with you.
What a term means for you depends on your own reports. Ask your treating doctor, or send your reports for a free review.
