Medical travel from Nigeria
Nigeria has one of the largest outbound medical-travel flows in Africa. Specialist shortages, limited tertiary capacity and equipment downtime push patients toward India, the UK, Egypt and Turkey for cardiac, oncology, orthopaedic, fertility and renal care.

Does your insurer cover treatment abroad?
Send us your insurer's name or policy details. We check with the hospital what may be covered, what is excluded and what pre-authorisation you need — before you travel.
Common questions from Nigeria patients.
Why do so many Nigerians travel for treatment?
A shortage of sub-specialists, limited tertiary-hospital capacity and unreliable equipment availability mean that cardiac, oncology, transplant and complex orthopaedic care often cannot be scheduled quickly at home. Travelling gives faster, more predictable access.
Which destination should I choose?
India is the most common for cost and capacity; the UK and Turkey are also used. We match the destination to your diagnosis, budget and visa access, and give you transparent pricing before you commit.
Will my HMO cover it?
Some premium HMO plans include an international treatment benefit for care unavailable in Nigeria — check your plan. We help with pre-authorisation; most elective outbound treatment is still self-funded.
How is follow-up handled?
You receive a full English discharge summary and imaging on disc, and we coordinate remote follow-up with your doctor in Nigeria.
