Antiplatelet therapy
Medication that prevents platelets from clumping; used after stenting and in stroke prevention.
Common antiplatelets: aspirin, clopidogrel, ticagrelor, prasugrel. Dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) is standard for 6-12 months after coronary stenting.
What this means for you: don't stop antiplatelets without your cardiologist's approval. Surgeries during the DAPT window need careful coordination.
What a term means for you depends on your own reports. Ask your treating doctor, or send your reports for a free review.
