Angioplasty
Minimally invasive procedure to open blocked arteries using a balloon catheter and metallic stent.
Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), commonly called angioplasty, uses a catheter threaded through an artery (usually the wrist or groin) to reach blocked coronary arteries, inflate a balloon, and deploy a stent to keep the artery open. Same-day or overnight procedure. Suitable for single/double-vessel disease; complex 3-vessel cases typically go to CABG instead.
