Kidney transplant
Transplanting a functional kidney from a living or deceased donor to replace failing kidneys.
Kidney transplant is the preferred treatment for end-stage renal disease. Living-donor kidney transplants have better long-term outcomes than deceased-donor (1-year graft survival ~97% vs ~94%). Year-one follow-up intensity is where most graft outcomes are determined — rejection is reversible if caught early.
