Rejection (transplant)
The immune system attacking a transplanted organ; managed with immunosuppression adjustments.
Transplant rejection happens when the recipient's immune system recognizes the graft as foreign and attacks it. Acute rejection is most common in the first 6-12 months, monitored via lab markers and protocol biopsies.
What this means for you: rejection is treatable when caught early. Adherence to immunosuppression and lab schedules is the strongest predictor of avoiding it.
