Top surgeons work in programs with strong multidisciplinary infrastructure (tumor boards, heart teams, sub-specialty clinics). Solo cowboys often produce average outcomes.

Strong tier (100-200/year)
Experienced surgeons with consistent technique. Outcomes near top tier for most case complexity.
Moderate tier (50-100/year)
Acceptable for routine cases. For complex cases or rare procedures, consider higher-volume options.
Below 50/year
