Medical visa

A visa specifically for medical treatment in a foreign country.

Medical visas (M visa in India, treatment visa in Thailand) typically allow longer stays than tourist visas, with provisions for an attendant. Requirements include a hospital invitation letter and treatment documentation.

What this means for you: apply for a medical visa, not a tourist visa, for any planned treatment. Tourist-visa-and-treatment is technically improper and can complicate your stay.
