Hematoma
A localized collection of blood outside blood vessels, often a post-surgical complication.
Hematomas form when blood collects in tissue from a vessel that doesn't seal. Most are small and resolve on their own; large or expanding hematomas may need drainage.
What this means for you: significant swelling, increasing pain, or a hard lump at the surgical site warrants immediate evaluation.
What a term means for you depends on your own reports. Ask your treating doctor, or send your reports for a free review.
