World-class treatment, without the public queue.

Medical travel from Australia

Australia's public Medicare system has excellent outcomes but growing elective surgery wait times — particularly for orthopaedic, ENT, and ophthalmology procedures in public hospitals. Medical travel offers a fast, cost-effective alternative.

Does your insurer cover treatment abroad?

Send us your insurer's name or policy details. We check with the hospital what may be covered, what is excluded and what pre-authorisation you need — before you travel.

Common questions from Australia patients.

Can I use my private health insurance for treatment abroad?

Yes — most Australian health funds (Bupa, Medibank, HCF, nib) cover emergency medical treatment overseas as part of travel insurance add-ons. For planned procedures, some funds have international treatment benefits on their premium extras.

Can I claim on Medicare for treatment abroad?

Australia has Reciprocal Health Care Agreements with NZ, UK, Ireland, Sweden, Netherlands, Finland, Italy, Malta, Norway, and Slovenia — covering emergency treatment only. Planned procedures are not covered.

Will my specialist recognise the records?

We use internationally standardised clinical documentation and DICOM imaging format compatible with Australian hospital systems.

What if I have a complication?

While you are abroad, the treating hospital manages complications. Once you are home, we share the full clinical records with your GP and help with any documents your health fund asks for.
