Anlayış: JCI
JCI is a US-based non-profit (an arm of The Joint Commission, which accredits US hospitals). The international program launched in 1997 and has accredited over 700 hospitals across 65+ countries. The standards focus heavily on patient-safety processes — IPSGs (International Patient Safety Goals) cover patient identification, communication, medication safety, surgical safety checklists, infection prevention, and falls reduction.
JCI inspections are intensive: 4-7 day site visits with multiple surveyors, document review, patient tracer methodology (following actual patient experiences), and direct observation of clinical practice. Hospitals must demonstrate compliance, not just policy documentation.

- Infection-control protocols audited and tracked. JCI requires hospital-acquired infection surveillance data.

- Continuous quality improvement infrastructure required — not just a one-time accreditation event.
- International patient services often part of the standard at JCI-accredited hospitals serving travelers.

Hospitals apply, complete a self-assessment against JCI standards, then host an on-site survey. Surveyors include physicians, nurses, and administrators. Re-survey every 3 years (more frequent for issues). Mock surveys often used for preparation. Cost runs $30,000-100,000+ per cycle, which is one reason it's a quality signal — only serious institutions invest.
Sinyal gücü
Among the strongest international hospital accreditation signals available. Combined with country-specific accreditations (NABH for India, HA for Thailand, etc.), it's the strongest possible signal short of specific outcome data. Not all 'JCI'-claiming hospitals are actually accredited — verify via the JCI website.
Dürüst sınırlamalar
- ! JCI is a baseline quality signal, not a guarantee of best-in-class outcomes for any specific procedure.
- ! Accreditation focuses on process rather than outcome — a JCI-accredited hospital could still have lower-than-average outcomes on a specific procedure if surgeon or department volume is low.
- ! Some accredited hospitals lose accreditation between cycles (rare but happens). Always verify current status.
- ! Accreditation status alone shouldn't drive program selection — combine with surgeon volume and case-specific outcome data.
