ICSI
Intracytoplasmic sperm injection — a single sperm is injected directly into an egg, used when sperm quality or count is low.
ICSI is a lab technique used during IVF when male-factor infertility is present (low sperm count, poor motility, or abnormal morphology). A single sperm is injected into each mature egg rather than mixing thousands of sperm and eggs in a dish. ICSI doesn't improve outcomes in non-male-factor cases but is over-prescribed at some clinics.
