What is a sinus lift procedure?
A sinus lift (sinus augmentation) is a bone-grafting procedure for the upper-back jaw when the sinus floor is too close to where an implant needs to go. The graft material is placed between the sinus floor and the existing bone, allowing implant placement.
Two approaches: lateral window (open surgery from the side) and crestal/transcrestal (less invasive, done through the implant site). The choice depends on the amount of lift needed.
Recovery: typically 4–6 weeks before implant placement, sometimes implants placed simultaneously. Post-op restrictions include no nose-blowing or sneezing through closed mouth for 2 weeks.
