طفرة جينية في بعض السرطانات (خصوصًا الرئة) توجّه اختيار العلاج المستهدف.
EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor) mutations are common in non-small-cell lung cancer, especially in non-smokers. EGFR-mutated cancers respond to targeted oral therapies (osimertinib, erlotinib).
What this means for you: lung cancer should be EGFR-tested. Targeted oral therapy is often more effective than IV chemotherapy in EGFR-positive disease.
