PGT-M (Monogenic Disease Testing) সম্পর্কে
PGT-M needs preparation before IVF. A genetics laboratory studies DNA from you, your husband or wife and sometimes relatives to design a test for the family variant, which can take several weeks. During IVF, eggs are collected, fertilised by ICSI and grown to blastocysts, from which a few cells are biopsied. Embryos are frozen while testing is done, and an unaffected embryo is later transferred.
PGT-M is very accurate for the condition it is designed for, but it cannot check for other diseases unless combined with PGT-A. Some couples have no unaffected embryos in a cycle and may need another. Pregnancy chances depend mainly on the woman's age and embryo quality, and prenatal tests are often still offered to confirm the result.
Because test design takes time, contact the clinic well before travelling and send your genetic reports early. Expect one trip for stimulation and egg collection, and another for the frozen transfer, unless transfer is arranged elsewhere. Genetic counselling before and after is important, and you should keep all reports for your own doctors.
